About Me

A Rewarding Career

When I was a teenager, I couldn’t decide what career path I wanted to pursue after my high school graduation. While I wanted to earn a comfortable living, money wasn’t the only factor guiding my decision. I also desired to have a job that would allow me to help others in some way. If you’re searching for a rewarding career, consider counseling. Counselors have the opportunity to help people solve complicated problems on a daily basis. For instance, as a counselor, you might help a couple resolve marriage issues, aid a teenager battling an eating disorder, or assist an adult dealing with depression. I didn't end up becoming a counselor, but on this blog, I hope you will discover some of the most interesting aspects of being a counselor.

Benefits Of Telehealth Therapy

by Marie Reid

Telehealth therapy is like regular therapy, but it's done over the phone or via a video conferencing system. You will still be speaking with a licensed therapist who will provide the same level of service you'd receive at an in-person session. If you're thinking of trying telehealth therapy, consider the following benefits of doing it:

No Need to Travel

Traveling to an in-person therapy session is difficult for some people and inconvenient for others. You may need to drive a long distance, take public transportation, use a driving service, walk in bad weather, etc. It's much more convenient and less expensive to do your therapy sessions over the phone or through a video conferencing platform.

Be in a Familiar Environment

When you go to an in-person therapy session, you are in an environment you're not very used to, so you go into the experience at a disadvantage. To get the best results possible from a therapy session, you should feel comfortable and open to speaking about personal subjects. You can do a telehealth therapy session from a place where you feel comfortable speaking freely.

Faster Process

Traveling to your therapist's office, signing in at the front desk, waiting for the receptionist to call your name, having your session, and then traveling home afterward takes a lot of time. With telehealth therapy, you only need to be available for the session itself, so you can spend the rest of your day doing other things. If you're a busy person, spending less time on a therapy session is a big deal.

No Need to Be Seen

There are many reasons that you might not want to be seen by your therapist during a session. It could be that you're more open to speaking about certain topics when no one is watching you, or you just don't want to worry about getting ready some days. Since you can do telehealth therapy over the phone, you don't have to be seen by your therapist during sessions.

A Good Introduction to Therapy

If you know that you'd benefit from seeing a therapist but haven't done it yet, telehealth therapy is a good way to get started. It's a less invasive process, and you might be more willing to speak to someone over the phone than in person. If someone you know would benefit from speaking with a therapist, you could recommend telehealth therapy since they might not even know it's an option.
